Don’t touch the radio once you have started driving the car. Most driving accidents occur with new drivers because of the radio. It can be tempting to change the station while you’re driving, but please resist that urge! Fiddling with the radio takes your concentration away from the road, and it only takes a split second for an accident to occur.

If weather conditions are bad, adjust your driving speed accordingly. Usually a good method is to drive about ten miles per hour below the speed limit when there is any type of weather that could affect visibility of the road or the slipperiness of the road.

Always buckle your seatbelt, and make sure everyone in the car with you is buckled too. It is legally required that anyone under the age of eighteen has to have their seatbelt buckled when in a car. In some states it is also required of underage drivers to have everyone buckled, regardless of age. You could get fined heavily for violating this offense.

Any time you need your windshield wipers on, you need your headlights on too. When precipitation of any sort is falling, that means there are clouds in the sky, and visibility will be low. Turning your lights on will help you see the roads better, and will also serve as a warning to let other cars know you are there.
